Regional Play seems to be the way forward - whether in Media or in business

Sample this - Aditya Birla group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla will no longer consider acquiring a business dependent on a global supply chain, according to a Bloomberg report. Instead, he is looking at a regional business model to contain the risks from protectionism.


The shift towards protectionism is not new - But pandemic brought protectionism back to the center.  So whether it is vaccine where countries protected themselves first  through medicines and vaccines or microchips that were in short supply. Global supply chains suddenly found themselves being tripped by policy changes, invocation of rarely-used laws and massive trade disruptions. The cost of doing business became higher if the supply chain was a stretched one.

Even in online media landscape which has supposed to be dominated by 175 Mn English speaking Indian population, Survey done by google kpmg suggests that there is a growth of regional languages online and soon Indian languages will dominate the online digital news segment.  Digital news has caught up easily because of its simplicity and accessibility. It is expected that there will be 180 million users by end of 2021 out of which 80% will be of Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Tamil. So something that most of communicators follow in the readership survey, where regional media outperforms english media 10:1, the same pattern is being followed in the online space. Momspresso.com released an insights suggesting that 65% of content created is in regional languages and accounts for 85% of page views. This growth is led by Hindi which contributes 65% of page views, followed by Marathi ( 10%), Bangla (8%) , Tamil ( 7%) and Malayalam (6%).

Influencer Marketing - Creating Conversation, Don't just be part of it.

Influencer Marketing is growing rapidly   Influencer outreach has matured, grown in size, influence is still defining itself within the world, jockeying for position among more established routes to consumers.  Instead, we must acknowledge the role influence plays in reputation management, and how its unique success can best benefit the company.  The question is no longer if you should partner with influencers.  At the outset, many were skeptical of this approach to communication.
